Hi Ms. Englert! This is Jacqui Hickey Rothera, one of your students during the late 1990s at Darlington. I have been thinking about you recently and wanted to reach out and say hello. I am living in West Chester with my husband and pets and am working as a middle school assistant principal. I am still playing oboe with a few local community groups and at a few local churches. I also still have my old Loree, which I recently learned was manufactured in 1927 and originally purchased by Marcel Tabuteau. I am just so grateful for your teaching and all of the time that you put in to me as a student. Playing the oboe enriches my life so much. I hope that you are doing well!

One of Carolyn’s long-time oboe students, Janelle Zook Cunulata, shines playing at her Senior Recital at her alma mater, Penn State University. She was also featured on a Penn State Christmas card that year! After years of musical lessons with Englert Music Studio, Janelle went on for her degree in Music Education from Penn State, where oboe was her primary instrument. She received her Masters of Music (Conducting) from Sam Houston State University and is an active composer, arranger and music educator in Central Pennsylvania. Janelle is the music director of the K-12 Music Program at Hinkletown Mennonite School in Ephrata, Pennsylvania.
